Out riding today!

Awesome ride today

It's really important to note that today was the first time that I've been out on one of my superbikes since my racing accident last year. It felt fantastic to be back on an 848 and I've got this street bike setup exactly like my track 848. Well except this one is mostly street legal. I love riding GP Shift, and nothing corners like this bike. I'd forgotten how much I love the Pirelli tires that come on these bikes stock, they really feel like they plant so easily.

Well you know the drill...

Dirty Girl! :)

I am thrilled to announce that I went dirty riding yesterday and it was a blast.

It's really important to note that this was the first time that I've been riding since a shattered my patella in round #7 last racing season. It felt great to be back on a bike and I was doing pretty good with sliding the rear. I totally face planted when I got my front wheel trapped in a rut coming through a turn but my gear kept me nice and safe. Now I just want to get back on the track!! Yay!!

Oops, slipped off the peg!

Boot slipped off peg entering turn #4
Ah those embarrassing moments! I'm sure that I'm not the only rider to do this when leaning in but maybe I'm the only one stupid enough to blog about it.  I'm not a short woman but I'm 5'7" and that's not tall.  Getting my peg height comfortable is a real challenge for me, I've asked folks how they measure control settings for the optimal adjustments and I've been really surprised that none have really seemed to have had a plan.  Even pro racers that I really admire look at me like I've got 3 heads.  Maybe I just need another few hundred hours of saddle time and maybe I just don't want to settle for not quite feeling comfortable when I'm trying to go as fast as my fortitude will allow.

How to you decide how to set your controls.  All of them, peg height, shifter travel, bar angle?  Come one, fill me in!

It Must Be Dirty!

Diz is showing a little kitty!!

There's plenty of "talk'n shit" and stuff going on back in the paddocks.  I love that dynamic and think it's a lot of fun. I thought it would be a blast to put my typical twisted self into this problem space and came up with a great idea.

Dana's Dizzy Kitty!

There's nothing cooler than carving through a turn with the bike at maximum learn angle.  It gets even better when your knee puck starts scraping the pavement. I was teasing one of the other racers after one of our practices. I told him not to worry because as I started getting faster, I would have a reward for him. I promised him that I was going to 'show him a little kitty' as I overtook him.

How did I do?
